About book Glenn Beck's Common Sense: The Case Against An Out-of-Control Government, Inspired By Thomas Paine (2009)
This book can really open your eyes to the issues that we as Americans face today, I loved reading up on the issues and really gaining further insight on them. The only problem that I had with this book is that it was highly opinionated throughout especially on the sections having to do with religion. Other than that however I highly suggest this book to any American looking to get involved in the changing of our flawed country. "You cannot take away freedom to protect it, you cannot destroy the free market to save it, and you cannot uphold freedom of speech by silencing those with whom you disagree. To take rights away to defend them or to spend your way out of debt defies common sense."Glenn Beck's Common Sense is a fast read that opens yours eyes in many ways.In the beginning, Glenn Beck brought up many things that I already knew. I highlighted this in my update on the reading when I was 20 pages or so into the book. But, as I got farther into the book I realized how much I didn't know about the progressive movement. I knew that America had an elite class of people, but I didn't know to what extent. I wasn't aware of "gerrymandering" which shows how corrupt politicians really are. But most importantly, I realized how corrupt both Democrats and Republicans really are. Most Republicans are conservative thinkers and therefore agree with many of the stances that Glenn Beck makes, and most Democrats are liberal and therefore disagree. However, Glenn made it entirely clear with this book that he is not on either side. Rather he is a conservative that is trying to put an end to progressivism. He states that we must stop funding the RNC and DNC. He states that when that happens independent voices will become the majority rather than the minority. This is rather insightful and he has convinced me to re-think my stance on the Republican Party. The Perks and Privileges of the Political Class, The Cancer of Progressivism, and Is It a Rising or a Setting Sun are the chapters I took the most from. I hope that Glenn Beck's dream of intellectual revolution occurs sooner rather than later.

Hilarious book since Thomas Paine is to the left of most contemporary American politicians.
