3 stars is what I give a book I feel sort of "it was okay, but I don't really remember much about it" about. And "clumsy heroine" is where I shelve books with heroines that ping my "Oh, right, she's SO INCREDIBLE even though there's not really any evidence of that" feels. Premise: hero is some rich handsome dude who can work wherever he wants. Heroine is a nerdy scientist who constantly thinks about "pheromones". After they hook up at a friend's wedding, he pursues her and she is befuddled by her interest in him, but they move in together so they can have sex a lot so she can focus on her work (...). It was okay. It gave me a feeling stories like this often give me, which is that I get why the lady is falling in lust with the hot handsome dude, but that I'm less sure why the hero is stunned with desire by the awkward lady who doesn't do fashion or personal grooming and who inevitably wears giant t-shirts and (here) is found unattractive by others. I mean, help me out a little bit. I didn't really feel here that her alleged genius was so apparent or fascinating that that was what drew the guy to her. I really hated the first part of this book, but for some reason I kept reading and the second half was marginally better so it got a 2nd star. Aside from the characters being one-dimensional and the relationship unbelievable, you could apparently bottle the hero's sweat and make millions since the heroine spends most of the book smelling/sniffing him, which then causes her to lose every thought in her head except lust.
Do You like book Girl Least Likely To Marry (2013)?
Cute. I liked the way Cassie came around, it was believable for her character.
