About book Gabriel's Inferno (2011)

I put off reading this book for years, because I have issues paying $8.99 for an ebook. My only regret is I didn't purchase this book sooner! What an incredible read! I fell in love with Gabriel and Jullian almost instantly. I have to admit I wanted him to burn in Dante's hell for most of the book, but at the same time I craved for him to find the peace he'd obviously been denied most his life. This story unfolds beautifully and I have to say I was very impressed. DO NOT READ THIS! Due to the overwhelming adoration of this book I thought it must have been a fantastic read. This is the first book in two years that I've had to stop reading it because I hate it so much. The biggest thing that bothered me, more than the unhealthy relationship waiting to take place, was Julia. She is a psycho! She goes from a chaste, pure, virginity toting saint to making out with 'The Professor' in .342 seconds. She BELIEVES herself to be in love simply because they share an appreciation of Dante (which at some points takes over the prose). Julia goes from being an all-forgiving simpering push-over student to suddenly finding her backbone and going postal on The Professor simply because he didn't remember her as his 'Beatrice' after a night of heavy drinking. Ummmm, the man was practically unconscious. What did she expect? You can tell that this character has been FICTIONALLY admitted to Harvard, strictly fictionally, because she is a bipolar multi-personality deluded idiot who expects to have a man fall in love with her simply because she is a fucking virgin and therefore the embodiment of everything good. Ranting aside, this was a painfully long book. %90 of the time it feels like there is no plot at all and whatever interaction takes place between the protagonists happens at a snail's pace. For those of you who have not read any of Dante's works prepare to be extremely confused with the unending references. It's almost sad how the author used these works to try and romanticize the beginnings of an unhealthy relationship. Because that's precisely what this is. This book has a very archaic view on women. Virgins are good and pure and every other woman is somehow inadequate. Slut shaming is a real thing with this book, guys. But Julia though. That girl carried a torch (of undying delusional love) for Gabriel since she STOLE HIS PHOTO from his sister after she saw it one time. When he came home from college and physically abused his family and got drunk she willingly played to his whims without ever having spoken to him and happily made out with a drunk dangerous stranger she hardly knew simply because he was hot. Oh yeah, did I mention he is 10 YEARS her senior? Pretty sure his actions on young Julia could have been filed under child molestation.

Do You like book Gabriel's Inferno (2011)?

I don't know which book came first but this book is TOO much like Fifty Shades for me to enjoy it. Everything from the characters personalities, histories, modes of communication (back and forth texts are substituted for back and forth emails), V card issues, past relationship activities... sooooooo much of it is similar. I found Fifty Shades to be mildly entertaining and it kept my interest but THIS book just bores me to death with its unoriginality. And while Fifty wasn't that well written I find this one even more poorly written. I will not be reading the second installment.

Absolutely intriguing read!! My first with Sylvain Reynard. I was on a quest for a new Author writing Erotica, and saw this read, "Gabriel's Inferno. It is said, "Do not judge a book by its cover," and that is exactly what I did; not just purchasing the first, but two and three, as well; second, "Gabriel's Rapture," and third, "Gabriel's Redemption." I was in for the surprise of my life. Sylvain Reynard, thank you!!! You gave me more!!!! "More of what," you ask?? I'll let you answer your own question. Enjoy!!!
