Just finished reading Fused by Fire for the third time since it was released (hey, just wanted to make sure I didn't miss anything!). Since beginning this series I have watched Michael and Simon, Michael quietly in the background and Simon not quite so quietly. I was very excited when I learned that the next book in the series was going to be their story and it was everything I hoped it would be. It was very moving how each fought for the other during some very painful events and they simply wouldn't give up on each other. It was also interesting to see how the younger Simon was, in some respects, more emotionally grounded than the older Michael, more confident, more willing to take a leap of faith, yet was still vulnerable. These two characters are my favorite of the series (I admit to having a mild crush on Michael) and I am so pleased with their story. As with others in the Firehouse Six series, I look forward to catching up with what is going on with their lives when the next book is released. Such a great series! Fused by Fire did not disappoint at all there were several awwwww moments as a huge Dravin St James fan girl I knew we would be getting a sweet tender love story it is also very sexy with some surprises. Michael is Lt at the fire station where Simon worked before studying to be a paramedic and transferred to work as an EMT. Simon was the comic relief at the station and would be the one anyone could count onSimon sees Michael at a fire Michel gets hurt while going in to rescue another firefighter Simon knowing the gruff Lt.would be a disagreeable patient. So he goes to try and find out how the severely injured firefighter is doing, Taber is not doing well and the Lt.is feeling completely responsible so Simon sees him at a very vulnerable moment and the Lt. regrets his weakness this breaks my heart. Simon who wears his heart on his sleeve just wants to help. Finally Michael goes home and proceeds to have a guilt fed pity party. The wonderful out fireman couple Grey and Mica are worried about Michael who won't see anyone ask Simon for help. Simon will not take no for an answer barges in and proceeds to get Michael cleaned up. Michael was rude to Simon and Simon left hurt. Michael felt bad and didn't know how to fix it. Simon goes to a gay club to try and forget Michael and meets the adorable Aaron the booty short glitter boy. I hope we see Aaron again. I also love Simon's paramedic co worker Bastian. There is a touching scene with Simons homophobic family breaks my heart. I hope also to see more of Simons brother Cole. Michael has such a big heart and I love the love between these two.Writing this brings a happy tear to my eyes as I remember this wonderfully touching story.
