It pains me to give only 1 star to a Susan Mallery book. Make no mistake though, 1 star for a Susan Mallery is still way better than 3 stars for an author that I don't like as much. Susan Mallery is still in a league higher than the rest, IMHO.Sweet Trouble is the final book in the Bakery Sisters trilogy, which focuses on the Keyes sisters Claire, Nicole and Jesse. Jesse, the youngest of the three sisters and she who was always the troublemaker, is front and center of Sweet Trouble. This book takes place 4-5 years later and Jesse has completely turned her life around. She is the single mother of 4-year-old Gabe, is a reformed bad girl who hasn't been on a date since the birth of her son, who works hard for the little money she has and who has returned to Seattle to make amends and become friendly with her sisters again, as well as with Gabe's father Matt.Matt used to be a nerd and couldn't believe his good fortune when Jesse fell for him. Things have changed since we last saw him before Gabe was born. Now, he's a jerk out for revenge against Jesse. I never warmed up to him and it's hard to like a romance novel where you hate the male protagonist.
