Can’t say I was impressed with this book, but I don’t regret reading it either. There were a lot of clichéd classic cheesy moments which usually make me cringe, but this book held through. I don’t know if it was the author’s genius or just my pleasant mood we have to credit for that. I really have to talk about two issues. First, WHY DO PEOPLE LIKE FIREWORKS?????? I don’t see what romanticism it holds. All that is there to it is a bright burst of color followed by a trail of smoke. God knows I don’t find it entertaining in the least. Though I was playing along with the other chessy formulas up until that point, the author pulled this and I was put off immediately. WTF man?Second, the writing isn’t the best. There were a lot of sentences the author was trying to communicate to us readers through overly repetitive descriptions of facial expressions involving the eyes.Okay woman, I noticed alright! There’s the description of every bloody character’s iris color, and the scolding and narrowing and hungry … look all are done with the eyes, okay? This author would probably make better bucks in scriptwriting for all that detail of facial muscles but still she is in desperate need of a thesaurus. I swear to god, there are at least 5 hits per page. If you loved "Butterfly Weeds" you will enjoy the writing in this book!It will take you on an emotional journey and remind you what it feels like to feel first love, to wish for a beautiful future with the boy who stole your heart for the first time.It is a story about love, and the journey in life that will bring you love in all it's different incarnations. It is both heartbreaking and inspirational. I found myself near tears and with knots in my throat several times while reading this. Much of the time I was trying to figure out what was really happening....the author was real good at keeping things just vague enough that it could have gone several ways. I absolutely adored this story....but beware to keep your tissues at hand!
