Unlike books such as Pinkalicious, this is a wordless picture book that tells a story of a girl trying to imitate a flamingo doing ballet. The flamingo disaproves of Flora at first, but when Flora fails badly, the flamingo begins a duet with Flora and the book ends when they finish their duet. The use of white space in the illustrations helps to draw attention to the characters. I would use this book in my classroom to help discuss imagination and how to deduct meaning from visual elements of a story. I loved this book because of its' use of color, and the poignant use of expression from the characters. Flora and the Flamingo is a very cute picture book. It is about a flamingo teaching this little girl about Ballet. it is al pink and very girly and I am sure that this would be very interesting for a girl who likes ballet. There are a lot of flips and turns in the pictures, and they are very detailed. This is a very delicate picture book with many illustrations. The theme of this picture book on my opinion is Friendship, and also Ballet. I believe that this is not a book that I would read to my children on a classroom, but I would recommend it for a little girl who likes ballet, and is very interested on learning it, I am sure they would really appreciate it.
