This was a really fantastic short read. It's basically a retake on the classic Cinderella story but at the same time it's completely unique and I've never read anything like it. I loved the way the author tells this story of a shy and insecure girl struggling to deal with unexpected romance, keeping her one and only friend, and trying to win a battle of wills with the popularity queen of her high school. The author writes in a way that entraps you until you are a part of Kia's world and you can't help but laugh and cry right along with her. Kia is an awesome character. She is shy and insecure about her looks but also smart ridiculously funny. Looking through her character's eyes gave me a bit of an insight into why its so difficult for some girls not to care about looks - something I've never really appreciated before. I'd also never realised how bitchy and cold hearted high school popularity queens are supposed to be - I hate Claudia's guts! Needless to say I really loved this book. The story was well written and the abrupt ending had me eagerly seeking out the next book. I can't wait to see what will happen and whatever it is I'm sure I'll be on the edge of my seat. If you haven't read this book you should. It's sweet, funny, romantic and sad all at the same time and well worth the effort. And that is all I have to say. LOVED this book. The author does an excellent job of depicting a typical high school and the drama that can surround falling for someone in that environment. The story is well paced and keeps your attention throughout...I was totally immersed in it, finishing in just hours. Kia is a very likable character, and it was very easy to see several aspects of myself from my high school years in her. And Adam-as of right now, he just shot up to the top of my BBF list.I'm really enjoying this modern day Cinderella story and can't wait to read part 2. I would highly recommend this book/series to just about anyone. Even if this is not a genre you normally read, it is worth your time for the fantastic writing.
