Recently, I watched the movie “This is the End”. At first, I was laughing and enjoying the movie. But soon I was asking “why did I think this would be fun?” I had the same experience with this book. At first it’s about a woman who gives rouge paranormals serious beat downs. Suddenly it’s a romance story where everyone is worried about their hair, clothes and do I love this guy or that one. Why did I think this would be fun and I may have caught a serious case of cooties. A couple of spoilers aheadI am genuinely sorry I have to say write because I normally love and adore Richelle Mead's books but this was definitely an exception, I did not like it. I would've stopped about half way through but I try to give books the benefit of the doubt until the very end however instead of it getting better like I hoped it just plummeted downhill. What I usually love in her other books were completely the opposite in Storm Born.I did not like the love triangle romance because it was obvious she was going to pick Kiyo when Dorian was obviously the far better and more interesting character. I mean all we knew about Kiyo was he's extremely protective, a big fox thing and he's having a baby with someone else- not the most compelling argument to win over the reader's favour. Also I just found Eugenie and Kiyo's relationship stupid because they'd hardly even met each other but then they were in love?! It was just annoying. To be honest I just wasn't a fan of Eugenie I mean for starters what kind of name is Eugenie? (sorry to any people with that name), she either thought she was awesome or was being saved by someone else, she was quite stupid like I know she wanted to save Jasmine but she risked a whole lot for one person who seemed quite content where she was and also she led Dorian on knowing she was still 'in love' with Kiyo. However I'll give her this she could be quite funny sometimes when she wasn't aggravating me. The whole book just wasn't that exciting, I was literally counting down the pages until it ended. I just found it repetitive her being attacked, struggling then coming out on topx10 with boring stuff in between. I mean I get why she wanted to rescue Jasmine but it bothered me that, that was what half the book was based on, she didn't even know her! I did give it 2 stars instead of 1 for a reason which was I actually quite liked some of the side characters like Tim, Volusian and Shaya. They were amusing and entertaining. Also I liked Dorain despite the fact he was in love with Eugenie. The first half of the book wasn't too bad. Anyway sorry for the bad review and to anyone who likes this book!
