About book Fight For Me (2000)

I enjoyed this book after I nearly gave it a DNF. I am glad I went back to it.This book had all the elements I look for in a good romance and it did help that I love books with MMA fighters in it. I liked the whole family drama and the exs getting involved. What prevented it from being a great book was that this book needed more detail to it. The relationship between Ryder and David was just left hanging,David came to the fights but then nothing came of it. I expected to see a lot more of Ryder's mom in this book but of her two scenes the 2nd one was a bit unbelievable(she should know her son's character). For me I would have liked to see the entire family coming together because of Ryder and Alexis.Alexis was someone I just did not like, I felt she played games with Ryder and he was more involved in the relationship than her. I hated how she always never believed him and doubted him and pushed him.The epilogue should have happened at least a year later to give us a "rounding off". The ending was just so convenient. The sex and fight scenes in this book was really well done. This is my first with this author and it certainly will not be my last. BB has written a good book, it is well worth the read, I am now glad I stuck with it. 3.5I thought this story was really pretty good. I enjoyed it the whole way through. There were parts that a bit too contrived for my liking, but it was a good way to pass the time regardless. In this story, Ryder is a hot-shot fighter living the busy lifestyle and sleeping with a lot of women. When he was a kid, Ryder hung out a lot with Alec and often Alec's twin sister Alexis. Alexis always had a bit of an obsession with Ryder despite him constantly pushing her away. She loved to tag along since Alec was her favorite person in the world and Ryder was her young heart's obsession. Drama ensues with Ryder and his father, who is now Alec and Alexis's step-father, and he ends up pushing the twins away trying to separate himself from his dad. Years later, Alexis is in a rough spot after her brother dies in a car crash, heading to pick her up after a boyfriend broke her heart. Ryder ends up saving Alexis's life, effectively ending his shot at winning the championship that year. Three years later, Alexis and Ryder have hardly talked to one another but neither has left the other's mind. Circumstances lead to them reconnecting, which allows them to kindle that spark that has always existed between them. However their pasts and their own personal demons create a number of hiccups along the way that threaten their relationship. Overall, I found the conflicts in this book to be really entertaining. There were a number of them and many were a bit dramatic but as long as I didn't get caught up in how realistic this story was I really enjoyed it.One thing that I equally hated and enjoyed was the fact that after Alexis's brother died, she tried to commit suicide and Ryder saved her. Her depression was never really discussed. It was mentioned from time to time and even and was even used as a conflict as one point, but otherwise I wish it was explored a little deeper. But at the same time, I found it refreshing that there was an element of depression in this book, without the whole book being consumed by the depression storyline.Regardless, I thought this was a good light read. It's probably nothing that I will revisit, but it might be worthwhile to read more by this author.
