I will say straight away that I had no interest in the superhero storyline before I read this volume and it wasn't good enough to change my mind.Fortunately, that was not the central focus of the volume. Basically the story centers around the final confrontation with Mr. Dark. I must say, the way it was handled was meaningful in a way I didn't imagine possible because I begun to feel that the Mr. Dark storyline had overstayed its welcome. They did a fantastic job and I can't wait to read the next volume to see what happens. Also, there is more on Bufkin in the business office. The new super bad guy is defeated, EVEN easier than the last one, where a literal god just steps in at the last minute and decides to pull a heroic sacrifice. There's actually a huge arc about forming a "superhero squad" of Fables with fairy tale characters slotting into recognizable roles in big name teams like the X-Men or Fantastic Four only for that to have no bearing on anything whatsoever. They even design suits for them.
A solid progression in the story, with an interesting twist. Lots of place to go from here.
