About book Fancy Nancy And The Mermaid Ballet (2012)
I think this is a great book for young kids. It is more of a lesson teaching book. This book shows students that we should always be happy for our friends when things go right in their lives because we would always want them to be happy for us when things go right in our own lives. It shows us that we should never be jealous of our friends no matter the situation or circumstances. It also teaches students that we can't always have everything we want. There is give and take in life. We have to give a little for things to happen to us or for thing to fall into place for us. Lastly, I think that this book shows students we should take every opportunity given to us whether big or small we need to take and look at it as a big opportunity in our lives. Always make the most out of every situation. I love the pictures and the art that the author used in this book. I haven't read many of the Fancy Nancy series, but the ones I have read tend to pleasantly surprise me with their depth. Yes, there's lots of glitter and fluff, but there's a realistic, lovable girl under all the fluff who has problems kids can identify with.In this episode, it's dealing with disappointment at not getting a role Nancy wants in the ballet, handling jealousy when a close friend does get it, and learning to love the role she does get. All very useful problems for little kids to think about. Plus the fun of mermaid and willow tree costumes!
