Eve's diary is comical, and beautiful. I did laugh while reading it- without actually knowing it was about Adam and Eve. : )I like the intensity of such a read. The history and the wit. I could have related- very much so. It is such a pity that he should feel so, for brightness is nothing; it is in the heart that the values lie. I wish I could make him understand that a loving good heart is riches, and riches enough, and that without it intellect is poverty.- (insecurities belong to everyone, but never permanently)"She is busy, or she is gone on a journey, but she will come." (love of the beautiful? Maybe)"That was because the fire had revealed to me a new passion--quite new, and distinctly different from love, grief, and those others which I had already discovered--FEAR. And it is horrible!--I wish I had never discovered it; it gives me dark moments, it spoils my happiness, it makes me shiver and tremble and shudder. But I could not persuade him, for he has not discovered fear yet, and so he could not understand me." This is purposefully brilliant, since it levels in with the connections I am having! :Dthe appetite is active- I thought that to be very funny, because it reminds of youth merging with all the challenges we are faced towards the destination of ultimate growth!comely- typical of a woman- pleasant to look at.Am I a comely woman? You bet! ; )'It is a long time to be alone; still, it is better to be alone than unwelcome.'Oh dear, that's funny. Some part of it is deadpan lonely. haha!I have learned a number of things, and am educated, now, but I wasn't at first. I was ignorant at first. At first it used to vex me because, with all my watching, I was never smart enough to be around when the water was running uphill; but now I do not mind it. I have experimented and experimented until now I know it never does run uphill, except in the dark. I know it does in the dark, because the pool never goes dry, which it would, of course, if the water didn't come back in the night. It is best to prove things by actual experiment; then you KNOW; whereas if you depend on guessing and supposing and conjecturing, you never get educated. I thought the above was brilliantly summarized. In all the nexus of life. ; )Yes, I think I love him merely because he is MINE and is MASCULINE. (what a line Mark Twain!)I am the first wife; and in the last wife I shall be repeated. Absolutely brilliant!:DFinally, I loved how Eve wanted stars to adore her hair. Lovely mon. Read it.Love,Taymara. The charm, insight and wit that made the legend are all found in this slender volume. At one point Adam is writing about how Eve wants to friends with all the animals. This is particularly alarming in the case of the Brontosaurus. He figures it will wreck their home but it follows Eve around, "like a pet mountain". Twain uses his idea of the diary hilariously in delineating the differences between men and women. Eve is the more forgiving of the two, "he told on me, but I don't blame him"!Beyond the humor and insight there is the pathos that Twain can bring so disarmingly. After Eve's death Adam writes simply, "Wheresoever she was, there was Eden".

An interesting, quick read, but not as great as I was hoping it would be.
