About book Everblue (2012)

Normally I hate when authors write from two separate points of view and alternate chapters, however in this book it makes sense to do so as for most of the story the two main characters are apart and living to separate story lines. This book is a nice light read, I do however feel it is aimed at a more younger audience of around 10-12 year olds. One thing that really annoyed me was the dialogue between ash and her little sister who was supposedly 12 years old? The way she was described and the way she talked and ash talked to her was like she was 4-7. It didn't work at all. I don't even know where to begin with this book. I thought that the premise was great, it just moved way too fast. Even in the beginning I had to go back and make sure this wasn't a sequel because so much had already been established without the reader knowing. Finn and Ash's romance wasn't a romance. It was a crush. There was no relationship development whatsoever then suddenly they're head over heels for each other because Finn "kissed" Ash. I also felt the "romance" was stereotypical and cheesy. Ash was horribly whiny and it was difficult to establish any sort of connection with her as a reader. This book just didn't quite live up to my expectations.
