What a sweet story! I just loved reading Zeke and Ember's story! Poor Zeke was just so damaged, he refused to see what a fabulous, courageous, gorgeous, sexy, hero he was...scars and all! See..men can be vain just like women, he was very much ashamed about his looks, yes others made him feel ashamed with their pity, but he needed to get past all that. It was very difficult for him to do that, add to that the slight stutter and the poor man thought he was done for. Ember was so perfect for him, she, like Shannon, saw past what Zeke considered his flaws. She saw his scars as his strengths and badges of honor! Gotta admire a woman who stands by her man no matter what! There wasn't any intricate mysteries like in book one, this book focused solely on Zeke and Ember's story and her father's PTSD, but it was so good and interesting nonetheless. You can't help but fall in love with all of these beautiful wounded ex-soldiers! Continuing stories of the wounded Vets will always be a hit with me, partly in respect for the author who draws her characters from that group, partly because the writing is engaging and professional. I absolutely loved the first book in this series so maybe I expected too much. This one is short (novella length) and contains more erotica than story plot. I found myself wishing for less of the former and more of the latter. But it's still worthwhile and I'll still pick up future books in the series to see what the author does with this wonderful character base.
Do You like book Embattled Minds (2000)?
Zeke, Ember and Drew are adorable. Nice story.
