Wow...I really didn't like this book. The first part felt like a dry, boring history lesson about the wars in Scotland, then our characters meet and I'm still not interested. The attraction was solely based on lust, I didn't enjoy any scenes in this book, and I couldn't understand how these two could possible fall for each other. I found myself skimming and repeatedly asking myself why this has such a high review....is it because there is such a focus on sex? Alpha male hero fascinated with innocent heroine? Hero will make some great sacrifice for heroine at the end of the story? Who knows, all of the typical culprits are there. This just wasn't my cup of tea, but I'm glad others enjoy it. But this writing style, aside from the sex, does not belong in the romance genre. It was too dry, too serious, and just not engrossing. An unfortunate 1 star from me. This book is not as romantic as I thought it would be and it feels a bit drab at times.Tor is unnecessarily tough and hard on his wife. Christina is too eager to please her unyielding husband. The whole book is spent with Tor trying his best to ignore his growing feelings for his beautiful, educated wife who is more innocent than is good for her and needs to be protected, even from himself. And it is just Christina's luck to find trouble at every turn. The book is not very different from the other Highlander books, though it takes a lot more time than necessary to reach reconciliation between this couple.

Seemed more like a history lesson than a romance novel.

Predictable, oversimplified. A bit like a cartoon. DNF
