3.5 starsI liked the characters separately. I was intrigued by the glimpses of both of them from book 1. However for some reason, I wasn't feeling them together as a couple. I didn't really understand their chemistry nor did I feel it for a very long time until toward the end of the story. The Good: Marcus and Amy are interesting individuals. She has mysterious origins and is the young lady rescued by Seth and David in book 1. Marcus is also pretty awesome. He played sidekick in book 1. Was witty and pretty hot. I also liked that in this book a year and a half has passed since book 1. So many other series have all these ancient beings that all of a sudden start mating within 1 month of each other and the story lines flow kinda slow if you look at the grand scheme of things. I'm thinking BDB for instance. I appreciate that a significant amount of time passed before we got to experience this story. The Bad: Instalove. This story lasts for about 2 weeks from first meeting to declaration of love forever to wedding ceremony. I hate that. I'm also getting tired of these cat loving, organic and vegan eating, solar panel having, prius driving immortal warriors. It was cute when Roland had the cat in the first book. I refuse to believe that this warrior also has a cat, drives a prius (how would he fit?), and is vegan. It's too much. We get it Dianne Duvall. Now I'm going to go eat a pork chop....The Ugly: The heroine's mysterious past is revealed and it's too far fetched for my tastes. Unless... unless it ties back into the story as a whole. The second of Duvall's Immortal Guardians series.Unlike the first book in this series, this book did not have quite the relationship development I had hoped for. I didn't feel that Ami and Marcus had a strong structure to their "budding romance." Ami, especially, was not very relatable as a character. The upside- you got to encounter the same characters from the first book and get a sort of "update" on Sarah and Roland.I love Duvall's writing, but a bit disappointed with this book. 2 out of 5 stars.
