Listened to A Dream to Call My Own (Brides of Gallatin County #3)by Tracie Peterson. Lacy Gallatin, the youngest of the Gallatin sisters, is a woman with a mission: to find her father's killer. Haunted by the belief that she's failed him, Lacy is also battling a desire to have something more than just revenge, something she can't quite figure out. Enter Dave Shepard, deputy sheriff for the area. Dave has been fervently trying to find the man who killed George Gallatin, but he always feels inadequate when it comes to the beautiful Lacy. When they are together, the tension crackles between them--both when they argue and when they kiss. Lacy finds him frustratingly irresistible...but is it truly love? I love Lacy. She was feisty and very independent. The whole series was very good. I give this book 4 stars and a 8. A fun read. I was actually just reading this book when I posted my review. This book was such an eye opener to the 1800's when people didn't buy land, they just found a vacant property on which to build a home and to even start a city of their own. A pre-version of the Mafia seemed to exist -- those that thought nothing of killing someone just for monetary gain or burning someone out of their business so they could expand their own. I'm surely glad I live in this time period and in Syracuse, UT. I feel a security that I'm not sure existed then.
