About book Diary Of A Wimpy Kid - The Third Wheel (2012)
As enjoyable as the whole diary of a Wimpy Kid series is (and don't get me wrong, it's a great series for the most part), I feel like this is getting out of hand. Seven books? Seriously? And for the most part, the books are all clones of one another. The whole process of "Greg screws up-Greg avoids and ignores the problem until it blows up in his face-Greg solves the problem" started to go stale around book 4, and yet here we are, 3 books later. The big question I have is if this series is even going to end at any point, and if it does end, if anyone is going to bother reading the last book, having left the fanwagon a long time ago. So, overall, not a bad book necessarily, but the plot is beginning to go stale. Greg Heffley, a teenage boy who's life is very complicated, wanted to go to the valentines day dance. But he had no date and he kept on trying to find one although, the problem was no one really liked him. He kept on trying to find at least one girl to go to the dance with but everyone he'd asked had said no. To be honest, though, he wasn't being very much of a gentlemen. So his best friend Rowley was someone that supposedly Greg could count on. After that Rowley went and asked a girl, named Abigail, if she would like to go to the dance as a 3 person(s) group and she said yes. Greg had to dress up all fancy and he took his money and went with Rowley to pick up Abigail, but Rowley had the chicken pox. After, Greg covered Rowley's face with a hat and scarf. They went to pick up Abigail and they went out to eat. Rowley and Abigail where getting very close with each other and that made Greg very mad. They finally got to the dance and some seniors claimed they had a meeting at the gym but the school claimed they where having the dance at the gym. They then divided the gym up evenly and the seniors got half of it and the students go the other half. After the last song was playing Greg asked Abigail if she wanted to dance and they did but Greg screamed when he saw a red dot on Abigail's face. Then he realized it was just a pimple and when the dance was over they dropped Abigail home, and the worst part is a few days after the dance Greg found out Rowley and Abigail where a couple and sadly Greg had gotten the chicken pox. The third wheel is about relationships, friendship, and family.
