I actually liked it. Now I'm sorry I didn't start this series from the beginning as I should have. That's what I get from being lazy! But I'm not going back now. I'll continue to read from this book on and after reading the rest of the series I'll go back and do it right. Moving on...Fast-paced, exciting and oh so hot! There are some sex scenes...but unlike other romances I've read recently these scenes didn't seem planted just to spike the readers interest. They actually played a part in the story and were very well written. And the build-up for the actual sex was so exciting and frustrating at the same time! Despite all this the story wasn't compromised in any way. It flowed wonderfully and made the reader both anxious for the sex and the fights.I loved how the couple continued to fight even after being together. Some stories make things look so perfect that it's kinda annoying. Not the case! They are both strong-willed from day one and continue so throughout the whole book. They promise to simply listen to each other and that seems to work for them even when they don't agree with each other. Which is like...always. The secondary story or main one (I never know) was also very well lined with their love story. The author managed to focus on both without detriment of either. Very few accomplish it so well. Just completed a reread of this book and I enjoyed it as much as i did the first time through. Irena is such a strong character and I really liked her gift. I always get frustrated when people waste time being together because of miscommunication or sheer stubbornness. There was a lot of that in here and come on, 400 years of hurt and pain is a bit much. This book is definitely more angsty than the others, but I did like both the characters and they are a great match for each other.
