Aaron Stander's characters and setting draw me in every book. The area of Michigan that the book is set in makes me want to pack up and move. Ray Elkins and the rest of the characters would be ideal neighbors.This books mystery had me fooled from the beginning. I could not figure out the connection between the various parties. Stander did an excellent job of bringing it all together along with at least one loose end that I am trying to place the resolution of in future books. It all started with an accidental shooting from a high school student in the midst of a Michigan winter. This was nothing but people practicing for target practice for hunting season for deer. When Sheriff Ray Elkins is on the scene, it's up to his team to get down to the bottom of it. And when TV reporter Lynne Boyd comes to Ray about a stalker with threatening letter via mail, it takes a turn for the worse, when she's shot in cold blood. In this fast-paced mystery, we'll see Ray face an interesting array of characters and how he operates for his investigation. There's many twists and turns on this mystery, when things comes altogether with some bad blood and family secrets on Round Island. Before another person becomes a victim of the shooter's prey, things gets heated to a drastic ending for a conclusion. This is good for a quick and easy read.
