About book Cruelest Month (2012)

Sorta fun to read this while spending time in the Michigan Upper Peninsula. Some of the details about Michigan, kayaking and gourmet treats are fun and the characters have some interesting quirkiness but the storyline was not great. Nothing to encourage me to read any more of his writing. My opinion--the author would do better to forget about writing mysteries and just elaborate more on the quirky characters. A nice light read, and although the characters are well developed and believable, there isn't a lot of depth to them. Having 2 mysteries unraveling at the same time is a nice touch, but the author relied too heavily on coincidence to bring them together and draw a conclusion. Despite the long drawn out process of investigation done by the protagonist, none of the mystery was exposed by hard detective work, but once again, coincidence. Too much time spent playing in their kayaks and not enough time spent actually solving the mysteries. But like I said, a nice light read.

Do You like book Cruelest Month (2012)?

It was a mystery that was fast paced, not too many twists and turns but it kept me interested.

I have grown to love the Ray Elkins series and this was another great read.

Good book in the series, but ending felt rushed.
