4. 5 Stars for a wonderful book that has left me wanting more! Seriously. I don't think I can write an intelligent review since I really just want to read this book again. I saw another review that said that before I read this... and I completely understand it now. This is the first novel I've read from Charlotte Stein and she has a true talent for creating intriguing characters full of surprises and depth that reeled me in. I stumbled on this book on a list of romances that deal with voyeurism and I was curious. Wow was I given a mindful of an eyeful. The voyeurism was extremely hot, but the story that develops between these two lost dark souls is what kept me turning the pages. Each scene between them builds a bridge to an unbroken place that you need to get to... you have to get there. The only reason I didn't go for five stars was that the Abbie POV was sometimes jarring and didn't make sense when it dipped into Ivan's thoughts. I do have to say that her voice was fresh and at times funny when I didn't expect it giving her a depth that I loved. I just think this novel could've worked entirely from just her POV. I highly recommend this hot read. Mi piace quest'autrice, mi piace proprio. L'ho trovata interessante anche quando non mi ha convinto del tutto, figuriamoci quanto mi può piacere con una storia così coinvolgente, seppur breve. Non inventa nulla la Stein, ma è il suo modo di narrare che mi tiene incollata alle pagine. Non è convenzionale, anzi questo suo stile fatto di un flusso di pensieri e impressioni della protagonista, questa prima persona a tratti involuta, quei dialoghi scarni potrebbero far storcere il naso ai tradizionalisti, mentre io mi trovo catapultata dentro gli avvenimenti e soprattutto dentro tutti i pensieri e le elucubrazioni che stanno dietro a un singolo gesto o una singola frase. E non ha paura di usare situazioni e frasi oscene la Stein, perché parla di quei momenti in qui le persone sono solo un ammasso di istinti e sensazioni, dove vengono veramente fuori i desideri più nascosti, ma lo fa senza superficialità, perché seppure eccessivo nulla di quello che è narrato è messo lì solo per la trivialità, c'è sempre un motivo sotto, a volte spiegato a volte lasciato al lettore da interpretare. E adoro ancora di più come riesce a parlare del dramma senza scadere nel piagnisteo e nel melodramma. Non la consiglio, perché è evidente che non è per tutti.
