About book De Kat Van De Dalai Lama (2012)

I absolutely loved this book. It was funny, heart-warming and insightful. It is actually the first book I've read where I began to understand what Buddhism is about. I always had a vague idea about being kind and compassionate, but apparently being told by a cat, and observing manifestations of the Buddhist wisdom through feline eyes, was what I needed to better understand e.g. the concept of dukkha (though it is presented in a simple form here, I think). I found the characters relatable and familiar (and not just because some of them are famous) and it has sparked a growing interest in Buddhism - or at least in the Dalai Lama. He seems great. ;-)Will definitely read again. Buddhist philosophy as told by a cat. This is a cute story of a cat rescued by the Dalai Lama, who, living with His Holiness, becomes known as HHC - His Holinesses Cat, and how the cat learns about Buddhism from the Dalai Lama and others of his household. He learns about mindfulness, paying attention to the present moment deliberately and non-judgmentally, wishing to give happiness to others, and that to focus too much on one's self can lead to hairballs. It is a cute story with a simple introduction to Buddhism and I found it easy to read and quite enjoyable. I received this book free to review from Netgalley.
