About book Damaged Goods (2011)

You definitely have to take this book with a grain of salt. In NO WAY (At. All. What-So-Ever.) could I fathom why Jocelyn would stay in a relationship with Sabian/Austin while he continued to "work"! God, that would totally make me feel dirty- Like wash the sheets at least once a day dirty... Maybe even twice a day dirty. ESPECIALLY when he mentions it or when he gets a phone call in the middle of the movie they're watching and has to go to "work"- having that guilty look, apologizing profusely... Eww... That's just plain nasty. I just don't believe that constitutes a healthy relationship! I mean, Jocelyn has kids for Heaven's sake!!BUT... I have to admit that Austin was upfront with her from the start. I'll give him that much. He said that he wouldn't quit his job and she was willing to accept that. Personally, I would've bolted. And knowing that her friends have slept with him, multiple times?! I feel sick just thinking about it. My biggest problem with Austin... Why couldn't he at least try looking for another job?! Really??!! For ONE WHOLE YEAR + a couple of months this relationship was going on and he couldn't find something else? And then he does something to surprise Jocelyn and says along with that, he's officially quitting his current job? Gee, thanks for being so considerate Austin. Yuck. As for Jocelyn, I had a hard time considering her "damaged goods". So she's a single mom. There's nothing damaged about that but she tried to pound that in my head and Austin's. I know she cared for Austin but W.O.W. Great sexual chemistry between Austin and Jocelyn but boy did this make me feel so torn up inside for Jocelyn. She must have been a very strong person to have been able to deal with having a relationship with a man that sold sex for money. Not something a lot of people could handle and made me wonder often whilst reading this if the tables were turned whether Austin would have been quite as accommodating about the situation as Jocelyn was. Great ending though!!
