Looking for the perfect book for a sports-minded teen who may have to move on to something other than sports? by Jordan Sonnenblick is story of Pete, a talented baseball player who is defined by his athletic ability. All this changes when Pete has a career ending injury and forces him to explore other areas in an attempt to find himself. Along the way Pete meets his first real love Angelika, he helps and is helped by A.J, his best friend and helps his Grampa navigate the early signs of Alzheimer's disease. As Pete uncovers his new found love and talent for photography he also learns that he is more than just an athlete. He has compassion for his family and friends, a talent other than sports and a life worth living outside of playing sports. Curveball was one of the best books I have read this year. Jordan sonnenblick makes it really interesting. It's about a boy who hurts his elbow while pitching so he can never pitch again, then his grandpa shows him how to take photos and he realizes he loves photography. Then he realizes his grandpa is forgetting things and he has to put sticky notes all around his house so he remembers where thing are.
Loved this book. Boys, girls, baseball, school, photography, family and Alzheimer's.
