About book Crystal Cove (2013)

I find the progression of this Friday Harbor series fascinating. What started in book one as a sweet, relatively tame romance with nary a hint of the supernatural has, by this fourth volume, turned into a full-fledged paranormal romance with some serious SPICE. Setting these books side-by-side, they just do not go together. At all. However, reading the series in sequence, there is a definite progression and this book is in line with that. It just strikes me as strange though because I kind of feel like the audience for book one is probably, on the whole, a very different group than the one to whom book four would appeal. That said-- I really enjoyed this book! Woo-- it was spicy (seriously... sexy times went in some very interesting directions)! And the supernatural aspect added some fun interest and intrigue to the tale. I enjoyed the story of Justine and Jason a lot. My one complaint is that I'm not sure Justine was as well-drawn as I would have liked... a big part of her character was her magic, and I felt maybe it was kind of used as a cop-out for the character-building and the kinds of details that really drew me in in the previous volumes. But you know. It was HOT, so that makes up for a lot. 12-7-14horrible!what a let down after the two previous novelswill not be buying the series after alla) way too much sex, about 300% more than the other books, and obviously influenced by 50 Shadesb) wrong wrong wrong about witchcraft; more like Carrie, all exploding glass and destructionc) rough, disjointed, poor expositionLK seems to have felt she HAD to complete the series and just threw this togethersadjust read Rainshadow Road and Dream Lake and stop there
