This was a sweet story and I quite enjoyed it. :) It was a light read. I love when I can set a book down and look forward to picking it up again later, expecting only to be able to relax and not think overmuch about the contents. Sometimes you just need a break from the heavier subjects.This is the third book I've read of the series Heart of the Prairie. The series does not need to be read in order, as each book is composed of different characters and settings. The characters in this novel were well-developed and well-rounded. The Townsend boys were adorable. :D Luthenia was kind-hearted and understanding, Joel's love and care for his nephews was attractive, and Edythe's spunk and uniqueness was a nice change. Even Missy's gloominess was not unwelcome.So, yeah... I liked this. :) Saw it at the thrift store and couldn't pass it up, as I think Kim Vogel Sawyer a gifted author with the aptitude for writing simple, yet engaging, stories. This was a delightful book. It reminded me of Little House on the Prairie episodes. A young teacher with a sad past encourages and inspires her students. She truly loves them and grows to love the town. But can she learn to know and love God as well as? And what about a little romance too? I kept wondering when Miss Edythe Amsel would be courted by the handsome and kind man, Joel Townsend. However, I think the entire year of comings and goings, opportunities and challenges brought them closer and closer. In a way, that was a much more beautiful and easy courtship than I thought if read about. I enjoyed this book a great deal, reading it quickly in just 2 days.
