This one's a good, solid three stars, mainly because of the dogs. One of the three main female characters inherits a house with a kennel attached; her aunt had both a boarding kennel and a dog rescue going. Of the human characters only one, Zoe, really engaged my sympathies. The deceased aunt was also mildly interesting. The dogs, however, really shine; their stories make the book worth the reading. I'd label this solidly as Chick Lit. I enjoy Dillon's books because they center on a character who is struggling in their daily life, making bad decisions and not finding the happiness they deserve.In this case, Rachel is a successful PR executive in London who inherits her aunt's dog kennel in rural England. After losing her job at the same time, she reluctantly goes to check it out her inheritance. There she meets a wonderful group of dog owners and saviors, along with a cute, overworked vet. As she works to save the money-losing kennel -- and rescue dogs -- Rachel discovers how empty and fruitless her life has been in London. And she finds love....OK, this does sound a bit syrupy....but it is an enjoyable read. I'm a sucker for animal rescue stories and the people who give their love to dogs!
