Grace Miller moves to Macau, an island off the coast of Hong Kong, and realizes that she is totally alone in a strange country. It is in Lillian's that both Grace and Pete create a new definition of home and family. The characters of Rilla, Gigi, Marjory, and Yok Lan are people I would love to sit with and get to know better.I loved this book. Hannah Tunnicliffe didn't gloss over the topic of infertility, a very heart-wrenching diagnosis. She exposed some of the underbelly topics of ex-pats taking advantage of and abusing foreign domestic help. But best of all, she drew me into the topic of macarons! Yes, I admit that on my trip to Paris, I went to either Pierre Herme and Laduree everyday to sample the macarons! They were all delicieux! Der Roman "Der Duft von Tee" von Hannah Tunnicliffe handelt von Grace, die mit ihrem Mann nach Macao zieht. Dort löst sich ihr großer Traum von einer eigenen Familie in Luft auf.Das Buch hat eine sehr langsame Erzählweise. Am Anfang trauert man mit Grace aber nach einer gewissen Zeit möchte man das es weiter voran geht.Ich habe keine Zweifel, das es schwer für Grace ist und die damit verbundene Depression. Trotzdem ist sie zu dramatisch. Nur weil sie selber keine Kinder bekommen kann, heißt es nicht das sie niemals Mutter sein kann. Es gibt so viele Kinder auf der Welt, die ein schönes zu Hause brauchen und auch verdient haben. Adaption ist eine gute Sache. Der Roman endet auch das sie ein Kinder von einer anderen Frau großzieht. Ich konnte schwer nachvollziehen, warum sie auf einmal ihre Meinung geändert hat. Keine Adaption zur einer Adaption. Ich finde die Entwicklung fehlt da.Das kleine Geschäft hört sich gemütlich an. Aber das es so schnell ein erfolg wird, das es schon Gewinn macht ist unwahrscheinlich. Auf dem Klappentext wurden exotische Schauplätze versprochen. Macao wurde aber nicht so wunderschön beschrieben. Jedenfalls in meinem Kopf sah, das nicht exotisch aus. Ich vermute der Roman hat mehr Grace depressive Stimmung wiedergespiegelt, was einen Einfluss auf die Atmosphäre hatte. Deshalb ging die Schönheit von Macao unter.
