About book Christian The Lion: Based On The Amazing And Heartwarming True Story (2009)

The moving and adorable story of Christian the lion and his two human friends is well rendered in this book, quickly-read and simple but written in a very lively way and full of wonderful details. It offers much more than the video and this book is not AT ALL just a way of capitalizing on its success. Anyway, this book was first written in 1971 and this is a new edition with more details. The narration transports us into the hippy London, the harshness of wildlife in Africa, but also the life and emotions of the two authors as well as the mind of Christian, with the extensive description of his behaviour. Topics like preservation of wildlife and the treatment of animals are also addressed. The last pages about the difficulties for Adamson to recreate a family of lions brought me close to tears. A simple yet wonderful read, also accompanied by priceless photos, that I highly recommend!! its amazing how a lion that is so significance with violence can be so emotionally attached to human. While watching the video of the epic reunion not long ago, I shed some tears. While reading this biography, more tears, especially when Christian the lion struggled in the wild, how he keep on looking at Ace and John every time he wanted to do something. He was so attached with them even in the wild, he still looking for their approval to do something. A remarkable story.

Do You like book Christian The Lion: Based On The Amazing And Heartwarming True Story (2009)?

I loved this book. Not so much the writing, but the story. It is hard to resist a story about a lion cub adopted as a baby and raised by two Aussie bachelors, living in London, who bit off more than they can chew. No pun intended. Christian the lion is endearing and what happens to him after he becomes too much to handle, is a miracle, when too often these "pets" end up in a pathetic zoo some where.Marsella

I knew about Christian the lion firstly from YouTube. Later on I learned about the life his previous owners had with him, before he became too large for them to keep in a London apartment. The book isn't so thick, and is filled with an adequate number of pictures. Nothing really special about it, except that you can actually feel the sincere love and affection the writers-owners have for Christian.
