About book Chanakya's Chant (2010)

I have to confess that of the three novels I read from this author this was the best. There are two story lines. For the indian in me the comparison between the contemporary politics with the story line of Chanakya made it an interesting read. One of the few books that I felt I had to finish it in one go, in recent times. Will recommend this. again lot of facts thrown in but these blend much better in this novel than the other novels Rozbal Line and Krishna Key. While Ashwin Sanghi wonderfully and in an engaging style, juxtaposes history with a fictional present, his style becomes too predictable and sometimes pages after pages have words strewn much like a cliche movie, where you can predict the climax even while the beginning titles appear on the screen. Historical novels are always a challenge. More so, if interspersed with a fictional storyline. While the idea is good and Ashwin Sanghi has done an extensive research on the subject as revealed by his bibliography, he fails to create a masterpiece. This book had a potential that was lost in trying to make it more interesting. After a score of pages, the reader has to push through to the end.
