Ok, I really enjoyed this book, it tickled me through and through! I thought Catherine's character was great, a nice and strong heroine who didn't spend time feeling sorry for herself and waiting on someone else to save her. Those are my favorite types of women in books, the strong resilient type. Now, as much of a fan of poor smitten William that I was, and he really was a good, honorable man, but all I could think is that he really needed to be bitch slapped several times over for the type of woman he believed Catherine to be. He was so sweet and passionate at points, just loved being with his wife, but in the back of his mind he was still so unsure of who she really was, and often offended her by accusing her of all sorts of ridiculousness, from having several affairs to being cold-blooded. I found myself shaking my head at his antics and internal musings about what she was really getting at if she said something, asked something, had a conversation with a man. Now he needed a good punch to the face when it came to his blindness concerning a friend of his, but that situation popped him in the face harder than anyone could close to the end of the book. Oh William, I still would slap the hell out of him, BACKHAND, LOL! Anyway, I have to say, that I just loved young Steven too, who always seemed to be in the know about the castle;-) The only thing I was disappointed with is how the scene played out when Catherine found out who William really was and that they had crossed paths before, I was expecting a bigger, stronger reaction, but then William's ass wasn't cooperating like he should have so I guess now I see why she didn't react like I'd have thought. I will be looking forward to reading the next book in this series, I like how the author wrote and how quick the chapters rolled by. The story started out really good for me but then continued to decline. I really liked William, until Catherine turned him into an insecure raving lunatic (and with good reason). With both having troubled pasts, the distrust they had for each other throughout most of the story was beyond frustrating, and although it did have a HEA, it did not leave me with a desire to read the other two books in the series.
Do You like book Cavaliere Del Desiderio (2012)?
The first I read from this author. Couldn't put it down.
