About book Cash's Fight (2014)

I read a lot of readers ranting about Cash sleeping with other women and that made me postpone reading this book until I decided to give it a chance. I have to clarify this:Cash sleeps with Rachel the ONE time. They are not in a relationship, he never promised anything to her. The had sex and that's it. Why some readers ranted about it on and on, I will never know. He did make a terrible mistake by embarrassing her in front of her church and friends but I think he more than made up for his mistake and Rachel made him work for her forgiveness a long time. Once he realizes she's worth it and admitts to himself that he wants her in his life, he is completely faithful to her. That counts for something in my book.I liked Rachel a lot. She gave in but she gave as good as she got and spoke her mind. There is public sex and the people in this club like watching, being watched, sharing their women with each other but that's something you know if you've read book 1. So you should read it at your own risk. However, I don't think there's an excessive amount of sex in these series. Cash in this one reverted to more the formula of the first couple of this series in that he hurt his heroine repeatedly with the other women. He also mentally kept finding fault with her personality, which I just couldn't stand. He would start to work on things and then just stop and state she wasn't what he wanted (thinking of the first scene at the lake where he completely misunderstands her reason for not dancing with him). He continues in that line through more than half of the book. If he truly had to work hard on convincing himself he wanted her, he should have left her alone for another man to come along, one who wanted her for her without changing her too much. The last part of the book did redeem it some. Cash got his head together, and Rachel stated some of the changes seen were not for him but rather were a part of her personality all along. Not quite sure I buy that one, but a good attempt at redeeming the plot. My favorite of this series was Shade/Lily, mainly because Shade knew what he wanted and focused on getting it rather than setting out to shame, hurt or humiliate his heroine. I can't quite say that at all for Cash, and that made me not like the book as well at all. After Rachel's history, I wanted more for her in her hero. I did love to see the story explain more regarding her brothers in the last chapters. I hope we get to see those stories as well. I enjoy Jamie Begley's books and will definitely look for the next one, but this particular hero was far from my favorite.
