About book Bryant And May And The Memory Of Blood (2011)

One of the best in this series. Punch and Judy themed murders this time, with another theatrical setting for Bryant and May to roam around. A big 'be warned' for those easily offended is that the initial death involves a child. However, fans of Fowler's PCU will enjoy every twist and turn and Bryant's commentary for every development.Otherwise, the story has the usual oddities of London life and history, and the trenchant observations of Arthur Bryant. My favorite example is May warning Bryant about parking in a No Parking Zone: "We're old. We can do anything we want."Well worth your time, and if the initial victim causes your to set this one aside, well it is your loss, and I sentence you to reading nothing but novels with recipes in them. In The Memory of Blood, an eccentric English detective uses Holmes-like observations and intuition to solve a locked-room mystery. Kudos to the author for beginning with a cast of (some of the) characters because there were a lot of characters, not the least of which is the puppet Mr. Punch. This, my first in the series, was well-written andfeatured many interesting historical snippets. My daughter is forever passing on her quirky reads to me. Now I have one for her.

Kept me guessing 'til the end. Lots of lovely anecdotes about Punch & Judy. Good stuff.
