When legendary author Dick Francis passed away, most of us assumed that his insanely good racing-themed mysteries would die with him. With more than 40 volumes to his credit, Francis was one of my favorite authors growing up, a product of my Grandmother's love for Readers' Digest Condensed Books. As fate would have it, Francis' son and longtime collaborator Felix has not only taken up the family business, but is doing his father's memory proud. Bloodline, his latest, was a rollicking read that kept me turning pages briskly to its conclusion. Featuring a unique storyline and characters (not an easy task given the extensive Francis bibliography), the tale has plenty of Francis' trademarks: great characters, compelling crime-related drama, and an emotional hook that keeps you wanting more. Well done, Felix; here's to your next title out this fall. I am pleased that Felix Francis is carrying on with writing books since his father died. I've read every one of Dick Francis's books and loved them. This particular story about Mark Shillingford who tries to find out why his jockey twin sister died, is a good read, and has very extreme baddies in it, with devastating results.I feel we didn't really get to know the actual villains as well as we could have in the context of the story. The romantic interest was all a bit rushed too, we didn't get to know Emily very well either. However, I hope he keeps writing and I look forward to reading many more.
Do You like book Bloodline, A Dick Francis Novel (2012)?
Disappointed. Felix is not the writer his father was.

Just what I needed, a good, mindless, quick read.
