Hmmm, with all the extra exiting abilities and heroics, Lissa is still a doormat, treated with total disregard and disrespect (despite being so unique and special) by almost everyone and what is it with everyone either grumbling or being grumpy? With few exceptions, none of the primary characters have any redeeming qualities and appear to either be in love with Lissa or betraying her and sometimes both at the same time. I will give the next book a go, but if Lissa keeps calling Gavin "Honey" after he cusses while she is sniveling instead of telling him off and REALLY meaning it - that will be the end of it for me. I like my heroines strong and resilient and not a perpetual victim. I loved it! The series has got me intrigued. There are several groups of men in her life vampires, werewolves and humans. They are all using her for their own ends. She's becoming hip to the scene as the series goes on. waking up and smelling the coffee. This book dealt a lot with Tony. He's my favorite so far. At least he has a conscience and feels bad about using her without her consent. But he remains a job first kind of guy and she ends up angry and disappointed. She remains loyal to Gavin throughout but he's getting on her nerves and she doesn't yet know the whole story about him that we've been shown. I like that her characters have depth. None of them are perfect. They all make mistakes. But like Tony, the men closest to her are at heart good people- doing the best they can- trying and sometimes failing to do the right thing. I wonder if there is an HEA to this series and if there is - which one would she choose or there is there yet another suitor on the horizon. Griffin remains mysterious but very powerful. Given the mistreatment she's suffered so far, I'm voting she doesn't choose anyone and becomes her own woman. Still, it's not much of a romance if she doesn't end up with up someone eventually. And it's nice that through all this she herself retains her original goodness.
