Overall, I did not like this book. My biggest problem with it was how confusing it was. There were so many different timelines and characters to keep track of. This book required you to hold characters in your mind at all different stages of their lives while we learn different things about them that happened years apart. It took me probably about half of this book to finally get everything straight in my mind. Another thing I didn't like about this book was the characters themselves. I didn't really feel any connection to them. I didn't really like the first book in this series either, but I was still drawn to the characters of Nick and Silla and even to the dark, downward spiral that was Josephine. At the end of the first book, SIlla talked about how she wanted to find the Deacon and I was looking forward to reading about that in this book, but it completely skipped over it and was an unsatisfying answer to the mystery of the Deacon. The one thing I liked about this book was the romance that took place in the letters and that was the only reason that I looked forward to picking up this book every time I went to read it, but the end to that romance was wholly unsatisfying. Another thing that really bothered me even though it wasn't technically part of the story was the cover. If there's going to be flowers on the cover, I don't understand why they wouldn't be roses. Literally everything that happens in this book is centered on the roses. The story in the letters spends all of its time building up to the creation of the roses and the rest of the story is dedicated to destroying the roses. I just don't understand how the decision was made to include flowers on the cover, but not the flowers that are absolutely central to the plot. As I've mentioned I am not a fan of this book. I suppose the ending was okay; it was not as satisfying as I had hoped but seeing as I don't really care what happens to the characters, I wasn't really left with any burning questions, even though I'm really pissed about what happened to Reese in the end, which even turns the ending into something I like. Basically, I have nothing good to say about this book. Quisiera ser parte de él y hacer todas esas cosas maravillosas.Personajes: Son muy reales y completos, de aquellos con los que es facil sentirse identificado. Con sus miedos, inseguridades y traumas, ellos luchan y tratan de seguir adelante al igual que cualquier persona que conozcas.Ritmo: Por ratos es bastante ameno, y de vez en cuando baja un poco el ritmo pero sin llegar a ser pesado.Originalidad: Me parece una historia muy original, sobre todo la historia detrás de cada personaje y de como sus vidas se llegan a cruzar.Drama: Esta muy bien llevado. La autora intenta mostrar tanto el lado normal como el paranormal, no se centra solo en un uno sino recién hasta llegar al mayor punto de tensión.Complejidad: Algo que siempre me atrapa en una novela es que no sea predecible, que tenga giros inesperados y una trama bien entretejida que te haga pensar. Esta historia tiene eso.Lo disfrute: Si.Me aburrió: No.Me atrapó: Si, con todo ese misterio sería dificil no hacerlo.Me pareció denso: Aunque en partes el ritmo no sea tan fluido, no llega a ponerse densoLo Recomendaría: Siii!!Algo a destacar:Es un libro que me gustó, no llego a "enamorarme" pero me gustó. Si bien se despejan algunas dudas del primer libro, nos encontramos con personajes nuevos y una historia diferente. Tenemos una maldición, una historia de amor y mucho misterio.Si hay algo que me gusta mucho de la forma de escribir de la autora es como te atrapa tanto con la aventura del presente, como el misterio del pasado. La intriga que te sujeta desde el principio por saber como es que ambas historias llegan a cruzarse o qué es lo que las une, es lo que hace que esta sea una historia diferente y compleja. Mi favorita fue la historia de amor del pasado, la cual es narrada a través de cartas. Me pareció muy tierna y, a su vez, mas inocente y puro que la del presente. Simplemente me encantó esa parte. No es una historia que desde el principio puedas imaginar como concluye, sino que poco a poco te va sorprendiendo con los hechos que transcurren.Otra cosa que me gustó fueron los personajes. Por un lado tenemos a Will, quien ha sufrido desgracias que lo han marcado, y por las cuales sigue luchando por superar. Es un personaje fuerte que no baja los brazos a pesar de que las cosas se vuelven cada vez mas dificiles. Por otro lado Mab, se encuentra en una posición en la que se espera mucho de ella y que, a pesar de ser muy joven, hace lo imposible por hacer lo mejor.Lleva la carga de todos los crimenes que cometió su madre y lucha por no convertirse en alguien como ella.Aunque despeja algunas dudas, también hay algunas cosas que quedan inconclusas o no del todo claras. Hay algunas cosas que llegaron a confundirme. No estaría del todo segura al creer que fue así para dar pie a su continuación o si simplemente la autora no supo cerrar el circulo. Espero que se vean despejadas en la continuación de la saga.Calificación del 1 al 5:4 ¡Muy Bueno!
