It's official...I am in love with the Wardham series and Author Zoe York! Her writing is so vivid that I feel that I've been transported to that little Canadian town, and I feel like I really know these people that live there. That's definitely because Ms. York writes her character's with such strong voices. I am a fan of dual POV's. I like to hear what the hero and heroine are both thinking as the story progresses, and Ms. York seems to favor this writing style. Ian is seriously swoony...physically strong, protective, communicative, and he absolutely adores his wife. Carrie is likable as well. While I typically favor books where the hero and heroine are meeting and falling in love, it was refreshing to read about a couple already established in a marriage with children. It's much closer to my own life, and I could really relate to the decisions they were wrestling with as they balanced work and family. My only complaint was that I read this prequel after What Once Was Perfect, which I also rated five stars. Due to the reading order, I had a good idea what the secret was that Ian was keeping towards the end of the novella. I would have enjoyed the reveal if I hadn't already guessed at it. But, that's a minor complaint given another strong entry in this series. **I received an ARC copy for my review**Good short romantic story, it was easy written and lovely to read. This was my first book of Zoe York but definitely not the last one, I'm curious for the next one. This is a story of a young couple who are married for 8 years with two children. What should have been a one night stand changes after Carrie finds out she is pregnant. Carrie is unsure about the love from her husband and more unsure when she finds out that there is money missing from their account. When she wants to confront him with her questions she hear him in the background telling his friend to cover for him when he tells Carrie he needs to work late that evening.Ian has never told his wife that he fell in love with her on their second date and now he is planning a surprise for her but for this he needs to ask his friends to cover for him. Will everything work out for them in the end?
