this is the 1st book in the thrilling series called "tomorrow girls". it all starts in a torn up Chicago during a long lasting war against the alliance. Louisa and her best friend Maddie are excited as every other girl to be going to their new school called Country Manor School. its everything thing Louisa could ask for, survival classes and outdoor activities. after hearing conspiracy theories of the school being a shady place, they start doubting the fantastic school after all. for their own safety everything they grew up with and once loved and cherished was taken away from them. Even their own identity tags. after everything they studied and everything that happened they figure its bad news, that the school i only training them the way they are to join the alliance, to fight against the only world they know as "safe". will they escape? or fight against their home? read and find out... I strongly recommend this book to any person that enjoys adventure and the future. so read, and of course enjoy. I was pleasantly surprised. I was just looking for something to keep me occupied until the book I had on hold was available at the library but I ended up really enjoying this book. Sure, the background of how the U.S. came to be in this war and what exactly is going on with that whole situation is vague, aside from references to the nefarious "Alliance," but it was still a fun read that I flew through in two days. I hope the next books in the series will flesh out the setting a bit more.I really enjoyed the characters. The main character really doesn't want to look any deeper into what is really going on in the mysterious school to which she and the other girls are sent. She butts heads with her best friend, who shares another girl's interest in and suspicion of what is really going on. I thought that the girls' interactions represented a good variety of attitudes ranging from actively seeking out conspiracies to willing yourself into not noticing obvious wrongs, and the discomfort of trying to find a middle ground.
