3.5, really. I didn't like this as much as the rest of the Malazan series, although it was fun to read. We were not given any insights into the title characters (B and KB) since the stories really focused on other people who were affected by B and KB. We learn a little about the manservant, but nothing very deep or all that interesting. I think the author wants to maintain the air of mystery around B and KB that he so carefully established in the Malazan series. Blood Follows 3*This tale gives us a little back story to how Emancipor Reese became manservant to Bauchelain & Korbal Broach. And we learn a little more of what exactly Korbal does with his prized, collected body parts. A simple straight forward tale. No deeper meanings. No foreshadowing. Just a walk in the park w/Bauchelain & Korbal Broach. :DThe Lees of Laughter's End 3*Oh my. Mostly, I'm giving this tale 3* because it was well written, & Erikson packed a lot into a short story. But I am NOT a fan of slap stick humour. I couldn't help but roll my eyes and/or groan at times. This is definitely a matter of personal taste. It just wasn't my thing. I was also disappointed, because these stories are supposed to be about Bauchelain & Korbal Broach but we spent more time w/all the rest of the characters. We didn't get to see those two using their sorcery, much, at all! I did like that this tale picked up where the previous one left off. The Healthy Dead 3.5*We see a bit more of Bauchelain & Korbal Broach in this story & a bit more necromancy. It wasn't entirely clear how much or what the two necromancers were really responsible for. It almost seemed like the story could have existed without them. As always, well written & not every detail was spelled out, but this time around I wasn't able to put together all of the pieces to reach the correct understandings. I felt like a few details were missing. Over all...Compared to the Tales of The Malazan Book of the Fallen, these stories did not measure up. That's not to say they weren't enjoyable in their own right, but if you're expecting more of the 10-book series, you're not going to find that here.
Do You like book Bauchelain And Korbal Broach (2009)?
I enjoyed the books, most the last one, very funny! Erikson has a lot to say to the world......
