About book Bakuman, Volume 5: Yearbook And Photobook (2011)
This was a good volume, but not an excellent one compared to the previous volumes. It lacked dramatic and inspirational moments for me. Instead, it portrayed the realistic grind of the manga production schedule—informative and detailed, yet dull as any job could be. The art was off slightly, it seemed, with far too many cartoony bits, though certainly the manga was still rendered well. It makes me wonder if this is a blip or a trend. I'm continuing to enjoy reading this manga, each chapter the characters develop a little more and I'm really interesting in seeing how this story evolves. Everything currently seems to be going very well for everyone, so I'm sure that some crisis is on the way.I'm actually trying not to read this manga in one go, like I do for most, trying to savor it a little more, especially since I have to wait so long between each volume!
