About book Baby's In Black. The Story Of Astrid Kirchherr & Stuart Sutcliffe (2010)

Worth picking up if you're a real Beatles buff, but for casual fans it can be a little hard to keep up with. "Baby's in Black" follows the early career of the Beatles primarily through the eyes of Astrid Kirchherr. The art can be interesting at times, but the story skips at different points and can be hard to follow. That all being said, the book is worth it just to experience the lesser known days of the Beatles as a bar band in Germany. It is rather rough around the edges, and the dialogue can be bland at times, but it is a quick read and interesting for Beatles fans. I *am* a great fan of the Beatles, and this tells the story of one of their early bandmates, Stuart Sutcliffe, back when they were just like, hanging out in Germany a bunch. Did you know they did that? I guess I did, vaguely. But yeah, it's adorable. It took a little bit to get into, and it's translated from German, so it's a little stilted, and the art is pretty artsy (as was Sutcliffe) but it's cool, and romantic, and sad. It's a cool bit of Beatles history and a pretty good story in it's own right. Worth a look.

This is the true love story of the lost Beatle Stuart Sutcliffe and Astrid Kirchherr.

For the hard-core Beatles' fan only - very quick read, so-so art, still enjoyable.
