Loved, loved this book!!!! It was exciting and interesting. It played on my emotions and kept me in suspense. I was constantly wondering what was coming next. I am so looking forward to reading the next book and the whole series. I want to know where Kael goes next. I love that Maeryn finds sneaky ways to undermine her disgusting 'husband'. I want to know who Saba really is and where he came from, why he can't remember and how old he really is! And did Adair travel through time or something. Can't wait to read more!!! Reading book one was very interesting, however, the story did not indicate how one would go from being a pampered queen and knowing for months she may lose that status at any time. One would think she would prepare herself, her child and kingdom for the loss of their beloved king. Instead, she does nothing, but pines away in the hopes of her husband coming home. This made no sense to me.I also did not understand why the author would put the maps of his "world" at the back of the book, with hyper-links (On my Kindle Fire and Kindle Touch) throughout the book to the city and map of which he speaks. And this doesn't happen just once, it's EVERY TIME a city, nation, state or anything to do with a map at the back of the book. When I would try to change the page on my Kindle Touch or Fire, I would inevitably be sent to the BACK of the book to this lovely map because, at times, there could be as many as 30 hyperlinks.If you're familiar with either device, you are now at a default saying you're at the end of the book, even if you're only on page 50. So, I can't tell you how quickly I got fed up with it, constantly losing my place over and over again having to highlight and make notes just so I didn't lose my place. For me, this really made it difficult to enjoy the story, though without the hyperlinks, (which I feel it did not need) I think I would have really enjoyed much more.
