Oh Smokey....I love this woman and her crew. I was so happy when they published this book and I couldn`t wait to read it. I enjoyed it so much BUT not as much as the previous books. This time Cody went somewhere else and first part of the book I found a little bit boring. I had a feeling like the spotlight was more on her love life than on this new case. But later everything was as I hope it would be. But also I was very dissapointed with everything that happend to Leo. I know Smokey was pregnant but still...I couldn`t belive she chose to end Leo`s life like that. Guess I can`t blame her....everybody would make the same choice as she did. I just hope that, if there will be more books about Smokey, that Cody won`t start to write more about private life of Smokey but there will be more cases to solve. Absolutely ridiculous book still I am giving it two stars because I finished it and that too in couple hours. It falls in category of those trash kind of airplane ride book, that you read because you don't really have to concentrate and they have enough suspense to keep you going on till the very end. FBI special agent Smokey Barret and her team hunts down a serial killer whose motive for killing seems very unrealistic. There is so much nonsense in the book. So many subjects are touched and there is quite a lot of material unrelated to plot. Author touches a subject and then goes on and on about that particular subject like crazed sex talk, brother talk website, killer's father's philosophical talk and things like that. It seems a waste of time even writing about all that stuff.There is lots of evil in the book but nothing stays in mind once you finish it and put it down. In other words it does not touch you. This was my first by Cody McFadyen and I know it is last too. I would not recommend it to anyone.
A fun read but nothing that lasted with me.
