About book An Idiot Abroad: The Travel Diaries Of Karl Pilkington (2011)
Intended as a companion to the TV series, this give you everything you saw there plus some extra bits. I think you would have to already be a fan of Karl Pilkington and his style to enjoy this book. I don't think someone could just pick this up and read it without knowing of Karl or the TV show. There are other comments on here that say the jokes/humour got a bit samey after a while. I would agree with that to some extent. Once you "get" Karl, you can predict that what kind of scenarios he is likely to hate. However, this was a fun read and made me laugh. This book was given to me by an English friend of mine. It was really good and also really ridiculous. The book is a kind of companion/behind the scenes look at the making of the Sky show An Idiot Abroad, and I would definitely recommend watching the show as well as reading the book. The title really says it all, Karl Pilkington, who is less of an idiot and more of just naive and simple minded, is sent abroad to film a TV show and travels to all of the 7 wonders of the world. Really fun read, especially if you're travelling.
