When I picked up the book the first time around, I set it down pretty quickly. A society girl and the heir to a run-down Manor? Sounds like a modern version of a Barbara Cartland novel. But luckily I gave it a second try, because the characters are in fact likeable (even TV-starlet Richenda Fox) and there is a lot more to this story than you would think after the first couple of pages.
