I find this book quite offensive and disturbingly sexist.No matter how thinly the author suggests marrying for money is all a joke, the characters still seriously persist in lamenting that women need to fall back on men during hard economic times - blatantly saying that the limited jobs and financial security will go men and that women, pretenders to salaried work and intelligent pursuits, will be made poor and return to reliance on men.shame this was ever published, more so I read it - unable to look away from the car crash it was A book about a modern day woman who loves Jane Austen books. When she gets down on her luck without a job she gets an idea to write a magazine article about how to marry a very rich man using Jane Austen's approach. Then she goes a step further and decides not just to write about it but to do it and find herself a billionaire.This isn't the greatest book every written but if you don't take it too seriously (which I am pretty sure the author did not intend), it can give you some light entertainment. If you don't like Jane Austen, horses or s peek into the way the well heeled live, this book probably has no appeal whatsoever. Otherwise I think it is a nice distraction from the day to day cares of the world and there is a nice little moral to the story at the end of it all.
I absolutely loved this modern version of pride and prejudice! Got myself so caught up in the story I couldn't stop reading =) Also loved the clever use and variety of locations and activities. I must say I dreading an unhappy ending... Really really loved it! A must read for Austen fans. I strongly recommend Victoria Connely as well if you're a lover of P&P (A Weekend with Mr Darcy, Christmas with Mr Darcy, etc)

Ihan ok, mutta ei iskenyt nauruhermoon ja juuri sitä odotan tämän tyyppisiltä tarinoilta. Joissakin kohdin juoni oli melkoisen epäuskottava kuten se, että näinä nettiaikoina jonkun väite aatelisarvosta ja perintötilasta menisi läpi tuosta vain. Muuten ihan mukiinmenevä tapaus ja pidin siitä, että mukana oli ihan vakaviakin teemoja ja että päähenkilö oli poikkeuksellisesti jo nelikymppinen.
