I could not finish this book fast enough! In this installment of the Killer Unicorns, more is revealed, bit by bit. We find out what happened to Brandt, what the Remedy is, some about Cory's problem, what Gordian has been up to, who Astrid's father is and Astrid has a sister?!!!!This was a roller coaster road, things are bad, then they are good, then bad, and poor Astrid, whenever things seem to be going well, her world always becomes unraveled. Speaking of Astrid, she is experiencing quite a transformation. She is growing into her powers and gaining a deeper understanding of her connection to the unicorns. At the same time, she struggles with her role in their world. Is she a hunter? I really enjoyed this book and am hoping that all things will work out for Astrid and the other sisters of the Order of the Lioness. First, let me start by saying I liked RAMPANT. That's why I bought ASCENDANT. Unfortunately, sequels have a way of dashing hopes. This book is a filler.RAMPANT was thrilling, unique, and a page-turner. In comparison, ASCENDANT is a twisted mess of adolescent angst. Blech. I don't think it did the series justice because hardly anything was accomplished. Readers learn a few tidbits about unicorns and unicorn hunters--and one interesting discovery about the Remedy--but the rest is kinda boring. Get this one at your local library, and wait to spend your cash on the third book, which is hopefully better.
Do You like book Alma Da Fera - Ordem Da Leoa 2 (2014)?
There were a couple of twists I absolutely did not see coming, so kudos to Ms. Peterfreund.

This hits every possible high note and then invents more scales to hit notes in.
