About book After. En Mil Pedazos (Serie After 2) Edición Mexicana (2014)
I firstly want to say that I honestly have mixed emotions about this series. I absolutely love the addiction of reading it but I've got the extreme opposite feeling that I strongly dislike the drama that goes on in this book. Tessa is so wishy-washy in her emotions and Hardin is just angry and looking for any excuse to hurt her. It's an abusive relationship which goes from perfect one minute, then painful the next. They use hurtful words to one another just to 'get square' and then end up doing more damage in the long run. I'm honestly so surprised that there is no actual physical abuse in this book considering the words and actions of the characters. I feel as if Tessa needs to leave this relationship. It's not healthy and these books do not represent a good role model for girls (and guys) in similar circumstances. It almost glorifies that if you lie, hurt and emotionally abuse the other person in the relationship they will forgive you because you claim you love them. I'm not okay with that. But having said all that, I find this read addictive for all the wrong reasons and I honestly don't like how this book makes me feel such mixed emotions. I don't like the length either, my copy was over 670 pages long. It's honestly too long winded for a book that constantly just uses the same issues and fights again and again. I'm not going to lie and say that I won't be reading the next book in the series, but I know I'm just going to be left annoyed and more angry about this relationship. The writing style is quite basic, and there's only limited characters that I find redeemable. Landon, Karen and Ken. That's pretty much it. Just like with my review of After, this book was even better the third time! After 2 or After We Collided has always been my favourite book in this series just because of how much heartbreak and growth that the characters go through during the whole book. And I just love all of the drama that happens in the scenes that take place during the holidays! I just absolutely adore this series! I cannot wait for the first half of After 3 to be released as "After We Fell" later this month. I am so excited to reread it! :)
